But when it crossed the Atlantic in 1979, the name had to change: in the US, “Raider” had the wrong connotation, so the clever name Twix—short for “twin sticks”—perfectly captured the iconic double-bar format. 🍫

Believe it or not, the Twix bar wasn’t always split into Left and Right. Brothers Earl and Seamus first united under the idea of combining biscuit, caramel, and chocolate into one marvelous bar. But as their grand concept took shape, their differences became crystal clear—from the way the chocolate was poured to the caramel’s gooey consistency. 🥊

The final straw arrived during the big launch event. Tensions peaked, and the bar broke in two—just like the brothers! What started as a partnership ended in a full-on brawl, and neither brother would back down. With no other choice, they split the company. Earl set off to build his factory—only to end up just meters away from Seamus’s new plant. 🏭

Each brother designed a unique factory and carved out his own chocolate-making approach. The Left Twix features a crunchy biscuit base with caramel spread before a chocolate coat, while the Right Twix sports a cascading layer of caramel atop the crunchy base, all enrobed in smooth chocolate. Two factories, two methods, one irresistible treat! 🔄

Seamus and Earl were destined never to reconcile. Today, only a handful of old partnership packs remain, but Left and Right Twix will never stand side by side again… and we love them all the more for it! ❤️
